It’s the first day of September, which means it is finally officially the first day of SPRING and I am certainly looking forward to the nicer weather… and I should be getting some washing done to get out there in that sunshine.
I had some big plans to sit and write my wrap-up last night but my littlest man had other ideas and was up way too late, we had a lovely snuggle on the couch that ended with me napping and him still wide awake.
I thought my figures were going to be quite low for August but in the end I think I did okay, hopefully September is a huge month because we have NINE book club reads coming up this month.
Total Books I read in August: 11
11 Female authors/ 0 Male author
2 Children’s books
8 Fiction novels
8 print/ 3 digital
Books in a series: 5
5 stars on Goodreads: 5
4 stars on Goodreads: 6
Books that qualify for AWW2016: 5
Not a huge number of books read in August but there’s a lot going on around here and I don’t read nearly as much as I would like so I’m pretty happy with those numbers, and I beat my July total…. which is exactly what I said last month, so if I keep beating my total one day I will get to a number I’m happy with.
Five of this months books are book club titles, so I am looking forward to hearing what our readers thought. Some of the reviews are already in for Southern Ruby and A Torch Against the Night, and there have been some delays with shipment of a couple of the others so I will continue to wait for what our readers thought.
All 4 and 5 star reads which makes me wonder if I am really considering my star rating. Am I going through a stage where I just love everything or have I had a month where everything I picked up was downright amazing.
Five of my books qualified for the one challenge I’m doing so that’s fantastic, I have 6 books left to meet my target for the year and I don’t think that will be too difficult. My Goodreads challenge total is finally starting to look stable, I’m currently three books ahead of schedule so I am not so concerned I won’t make it to 100 now.
Three digitals for the month is a good sign, and I think that may have helped but I was also halfway through the first one when the month started. I’m not sure how many digitals I’ll get through this month with all the book club commitments but time will tell.
Favourite books of August, another really hard choice to make. I think I’m going to have to go with A Torch Against The Night, largely because it’s a return to a much loved, and neglected, genre of mine.
I still can’t pick a least favourite and actually I’m not sure I do hope that I will be able to soon. It’s fantastic to be reading so many wonderful books.
Heading into September I am looking forward to a few great books. We have NINE new book clubs coming up so that’s great for our little book club. I have read two of those books in August because I thought I better get a head start. We have some childrens books this month so they should be quicker and help my total and be great for our younger readers. I think my most anticipated for September is The Three Miss Allens by Victoria Purman.
What have you read and loved this month?

My blurb went missing… so now I have to bring you a new one. One that is a little broader too.
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years I have broadened my horizons considerably.
I inhale music, hair metal that satisfies my inner bogan is where my musical passion lies, but again I’ve been exposed to lots of different music I wouldn’t normally listen to and have broadened those horizons also.
In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews.
Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS! Reading, writing, speaking, listening – if it’s got words I’m there!
