The Crooked Staircase is the third Jane Hawk novel and one that I am super excited about. I can not wait to sink my teeth into this one and it is DEFINITELY next on my pile.

Jane Hawk is a rogue FBI agent chasing down the people at the top of a plot for world domination; taking out the people they think could be a threat and taking over those they think can be useful.

There are worse things than death, Jane has seen it first hand and she knows she doesn’t want to experience it. She knows she’s on borrowed time but she will never quit, never stop fighting the terrifying conspiracy that took the life of her husband and threatens the freedom and free will of millions.

Jane has been on the run across the country tracking pieces to the puzzle, always trying to uncover more information, and meeting some colourful characters along the way. It’s hard to find an ally when you are never sure who you can trust.

The Crooked Staircase promises to be a psychological roller coaster that is terrifying and fast paced with the bad guys masquerading as the good guys to hide in plain sight. I can’t wait to sink my teeth in.

I know that some of our readers have already read this one and loved it. We will all be eagerly awaiting The Forbidden Door, I’m sure.

Dean Koontz can be found on Facebook, Twitter and his Website.

  1. The Crooked Staircase by Dean Koontz was action packed from the very first page.
This is the third book featuring Jane Hawk a former FBI Agent and one being pursued by the most dangerous the Arcadian Society.
She is on a quest to find Booth Hendrickson who is responsible for her husband”s death which was as a result of mind manipulation causing him to suicide.
Jane has a son Travis who she has hidden away with friends, Gavin and Jessie Washington. There have been threats on both Jane”s and Travis”s lives.

Throughout the book are many innocent characters finding themselves in the hands of this corrupt force.
There is so much going on,, every adventure imaginable and it’s difficult to predict what”s going to happen next!
It’s quite scarey, obviously it points to another book to follow this one featuring Jane, and I’m eager to read that.
Thankyou Beautyandlace and HarperCollins for this exciting read.

  2. I had never read a Dean Koontz novel before however after reading the Crooked Staircase that is about to change. I loved it very easy to read & interesting storyline right from the start to the last page

  3. Thankyou Beauty and Lace for selecting me to read The Crooked Staircase By Dean Koontz
This is the third book in the series and I have to say my favourite so far
Jane Hawk is still on the run trying to discover the truth in regards to all the unexplained deaths
Jane is fighting against people very high up
    She can trust no one
Jane has left her young son Travis with friends when something awful happens ( no spoilers )
Dean Koontz has always been an excellent author but he has really outdone himself with this series of books
Can’t wait to read the next book in this series

  4. The Crooked Staircase by Dean Koontz is the third book in a serious following Jane the ex FBI agent trying to the people responsible for her husbands death. I would recommend reading the other two books in the serious before reading this one as it would be difficult to understand without having the background of Jane and her past.

I really enjoyed this book and it picks up straight from the last book, The Whispering Room. It is very action packed and has twists and turns at every corner. Just when you think you may be able to predict what is going to happen next, Koontz throws a spanner into the works an keeps you guessing.

This would be probably my favourite from the serious but you do need to make sure you are paying attention the detail when reading this book.

Thank you Beauty and Lace and also Harper Collins Australia for the opportunity to read this book. Dean Koontz is a great writer and I had never read his books and I am so glad to have had the opportunity. I love his work and will defiantly be reading more of them in the future.

  5. The Cooked Staircase by Dean Koontz is the third book in a series featuring ex FBI agent Jane Hawk.. It is the first book of Dean Koontz that I have read and I found it well written, with an action packed storyline to the point of being downright scary at times.
Dean Koontz is definitely a great writer of the suspense thriller genre.
Thankyou Beauty and Lace for choosing me to read The Crooked Staircase.

  6. I’ve read all the books so far in the Jane Hawk series and I’ve loved them all, which really surprised me as I don’t usually read thrilling, suspenseful books. This one was so particularly thrilling and suspenseful that I did find myself at times putting ‘The Crooked Staircase’ down and reading another book so that I could calm down enough to keep reading.

I can’t wait for the next book to come out! Thank you Beauty and Lace for another great book to review >:o)

  7. Dean Koontz has written such a alluring and frightening book. The concept of nano-control mechanisms and secret lists is both confronting, believable and distressing to think about what our futures and the future of technologies has in store for us. What secrets are being kept from us as we fight for freedom, acceptance and change.

The Crooked Staircase is a fast paces and compelling story. I struggled to put it down once I began the Jane Hawk journey and immured myself into the drama, chaos and momentum that Dean creates as he entwines the interlocking stories of Sarah, Tanuja, Sanjay, Booth, Gilberto, Jessie, Gavin and Jane’s son Travis.

The twists and turns facing the main characters create a fantastic read and have me wanting to read more Jane Hawk thrillers.

  8. I was lucky enough to receive Dean Koontz’s book The Crooked Staircase which is book 3 of the Jane Hawke series.
From the moment i turned the first page i was hooked. There was an intensity in this book that made me yearn for more as i turned each page.
Jane Hawke is a former FBI agent who has been ostracized by the FBI and now considered a rogue agent and a wanted fugitive.
Jane’s husband Nick died in an apparent suicide murder but Jane knows differently and is trying to get to the bottom of finding out what actually happened whilst making enemies along the way and trying to keep those close to her safe away from harms reach.
Someone is trying to keep Jane Hawke quiet and is going to extraordinarily lengths to try to silence her.
This is the third book of this series and i have only read this one thus far. It made things slightly confusing as far as identifying characters and not knowing exactly what has happened in the previous two books. I definitely recommend to start at book 1 and work your way through.
Not withstanding this i really enjoyed the book and can say that the ending will leave you on a cliffhanger.

  9. Thankyou Beauty and Kace and Harper Collins for the opportunity to read The Crooked Staircace by DeAn Koontz…
The third book of the Jane Hawk series. The story was full of suspense which often compelled me to put the book down…. not wanting to find out what cruelty the innocent would have to endure.
Jane is well on the way to exposing the sociopathic group but continues to be confronted with more problems.
As the story progressed and friends looking after Jane’s son are forced to leave their abode I had to get to the end and felt left up in the air…. can’t wait for the next Jane Hawk thriller!

  10. Dean koontz is one of my favourite authors and in this third book of the Jane Hawk series he doesn’t disappoint.

I honestly could not put this book down, fast paced and action packed. Jane continued on her quest to cut the head off the snake whilst they are hunting down her and anyone closr to her.

Her son is still in hiding but is now on the run with his relentless pursuers only one step behind.

I’m not goong to lie, there are some deaths that shocked snd and saddened me and others to which I cheered. The only disappointing thing about this book is that I finished it too fast lol.

Can’t wait until the next installment…think it’s out in a couple of months yay!

If you’ve never read any of Dean’s books, do yourself a favour and go and purchase one!!
