There is a book tour heading out across New South Wales beginning next week that makes me want to go home, if only for a little while. A book tour the likes of which I have never seen before.
Three best-selling Australian authors are taking to the road together and visiting 11 towns across regional NSW, including Canberra. The tour will include Bathurst Writers’ Festival and ten free library events.
The aspect of this tour, which is really a mini touring festival, that really caught my attention is that not only do these three authors write in different genres but they are also signed to different publishing houses. The Australian Voices in Print Tour is the first ever multi-publisher author tour of regional Australia.
Simon & Schuster and Harlequin have come together to make publishing history and bring three fabulous Australian authors to audiences. Karen M Davis writes crime fiction; Jenn J McLeod, rural romance; and Tricia Stringer, historical saga and romance.
‘We wanted to showcase together three great authors who write in different genre styles in what really is a mini touring festival. Regional readers don’t often have a chance to meet great authors, so we decided to work together with Harlequin to deliver that ‘experience’. Anna O’Grady Marketing and Publicity Manager from Simon & Schuster says
Jo Mackay, Associate Publisher at Harlequin Australia, commented: ‘It’s an exciting project that will give readers in regional NSW the opportunity to meet their favourite authors and perhaps discover a new one. These authors are very different, but what they have in common is that they all write immensely appealing stories, with authentic and passionate (Australian) voices.’
The tour kicks off Sunday May 24 and runs through to June 5. It includes the Bathurst Writer’s Festival and will visit Bathurst, Canberra, Bateman’s Bay, Uludulla, Nowra, Belmont, Raymond Terrace, Salamander Bay, Taree, Bellingen and Lismore.
I urge readers and book lovers to get along to one of these events if you can. I have read all of these authors and would love to get along to one of the talks. The events are free but they do require pre-registration so please contact your local library for further details. Author signed books will be available for purchase at each event.

I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
Thanks for spreading the word, Michelle. We are having a blast. just over half way now and there have been fun audiences and funnier moments. Exhausted but loving it.
A great read as always Michelle. It’s been fun following their adventures. 🙂
