Escape Publishing have brought together eight talented Aussie authors for a collaborative series of short stories set in the small Queensland town of Milpinyani Springs.
Brooke is an interesting character and hers a confession that was a little different to those that came before. Brooke has two very protective older brothers who have scared off any male who ever dared show an interest in her, a duty they inherited from her equally protective father. They never managed to scare off her first love, because theirs was a secret teen relationship they ensured no-one knew about.
It hasn’t been too difficult for Connor and Rowan to scare off prospective suitors because none have really interested Brooke, her heart has always belonged to their best friend Heath – the boy who broke her heart when he went away to uni.
Heath is home and when he comes by for Friday night drinks with Connor and Rowan Brooke finds out he’s been home a month and this is the first she’s seen him. Her heart may still belong to him but the casual way he returns to her life tells her that he’s just another guy not willing to stand up to her brothers and fight for her. That doesn’t stop her remembering the times they shared before he went away to uni.
Brooke’s is another tale of intense frustration that spans more than a week and culminates in a public showdown in the local hotel, where we see Lucky and off duty policeman Dare Cornish.
This is a sweet story with some steamy scenes but at it’s heart is a beautiful love story of first love reunited.
I realise Milpinyani Springs is a tiny town and many of the people in this series live out of town on farms so the roads are relatively quiet but open air roadside intercourse still makes me wonder about whether or not it would actually ever happen.

My blurb went missing… so now I have to bring you a new one. One that is a little broader too.
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years I have broadened my horizons considerably.
I inhale music, hair metal that satisfies my inner bogan is where my musical passion lies, but again I’ve been exposed to lots of different music I wouldn’t normally listen to and have broadened those horizons also.
In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews.
Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS! Reading, writing, speaking, listening – if it’s got words I’m there!
