Nicole Hurley-Moore is not a new author to me, and much to our delight one of our members spotted a Beauty and Lace quote on the back of this book. I can tell you that put smiles on all our faces.
Lawson’s Bend sounds like an intriguing tale that I look forward to picking up, but for now I will just have to check out the opinions of our members while I find the time to pick it up.

28 Year old Henny Bolten returns to her home town, Lawson’s Bend for the first time in 10 years due to the sudden loss of her Mother.
Being home brings up lot’s of unwanted memories of a tragedy that occured in the Town Resevoir ten years earlier – her reason for leaving and staying away until now!
Another shocking death occurs but this time Henny beleives it may not have been an accident like everyone thinks.
The more questions she asks, the more trouble she seems to be stirring up but some things just don’t seem to be adding up. Henny is determined to find out the truth.
Each characters own point of few of the day/night of the drownings are spread out through out the book giving different perspectives of the event.
Could someone Henny grew up with be capable of something sinister?
Nicole Hurley-Moore Has again written a beautiful story as always and I would recommend this book to all my friends also a big shout-out to beauty an lace
This was the first time I have read a book by this author. I absolutely loved this book and I will definitely be reading Nicole’s other books. I love finding new Australian Authors to read.
As soon as I got this book I thought it was going to be a quick read but wanted to make it last so read a little every night before going to sleep.
I thoroughly enjoyed Nicole’s style of writing and the way she tells a story that blends throughout the whole book. I loved that I couldn’t predict who was trying to scare Henny off, what was behind the truth and what really happened.
I really liked how it took you back to Killop Reservoir in stages all the way through the book. I never lost interest in this book and thought it was very heartwarming towards the end.
Another talented writer to add to my list, just fantastic!!!

Loved the country romance story but this time with a mystery twist. Beautifully written and had some old fashioned values/motto sneaking through like lies never prosper always better to tell the truth. Would definitely recommend this author to my friends. Thanks beauty and lace
Tragedy and sadness draws Henny Bolton back to Lawson’s Bend to a place she never wanted to come back to but the unexpected death of her beautiful mother made sure she came back.
Ten years before her comeback Henny and a group of friends that had known each other since kindergarten days set out on an end of year celebration of a camping trip at a place called Killop Reservoir. This would be the last time as friends together before they set off to Universities or their destinies of careers.
Out on the water there is a platform where you could swim out to and most would swim out there to chat and then swim back in. A terrible accident happened out there and lives would be lost. Henny lost her best friend Georgie out there and some other friends that drowned.
Henny was lucky in that a guy she had known for ages saved her from drowning. Stephen Drake has secretly always had a crush on Henny for years but she was with another male.
On returning home Henny learns how her mum died whilst just out jogging at her usual place. It was just an unforeseen accident.
When Henny arrives in town, it is a ten years anniversary since that tragic accident and there is a memorial for the lives that were lost.
A character called Harley and his devoted loved dog is a character that you can’t help but warm too. Harley warns Henny that she should leave Lawson’s Bend as there is danger.
Henny cannot figure out what Harley means and she is determined to find out what actually happened the night of the drownings.
This is a beautiful, heartwarming romantic and suspenseful storyline. I just wanted to keep reading till I finished the book. Definitely a page turner. Lots of characters that you will warm too.

Nicole Hurley-Moore is Another one of my favourite authors and Lawson’s Bend doesn’t disappoint, I think it might be my favourite of all Nicole’s books so far!
Henny Bolton left Lawson’s Bend 10 years ago after a tragic accident whilst celebrating the end of her schooling, that took her best friends life and hasn’t returned since.
When her mother dies suddenly in a fall whilst out running she is forced to return to Lawson’s Bend. Upon returning Henny starts to face her past and reconnects with school friends including Stephen Drake.
Stephen has had a crush on Henny forever but hasn’t seen Henny since she left town. They rekindle there friendship and while Stephen would like more Henny continues to hold him at arms length, too scared to let someone in in case she loses someone else she loves.
As she slowly starts to open up to Stephen there is another ‘accident’ that has Henny questioning if it was actually an accident like everyone else believes or if something else is going on, that could be connected to the tragic night 10 years ago.
As Henny starts to ask questions she starts to receive threats, someone doesn’t want her to keep digging, will she be able to uncover the truth before it’s too late?
Hurley-Moore has done a fantastic job of weaving this book, right from the first few pages I was intrigued as to what happened 10years ago and then how the accident could possible be connected to some mysterious ‘accidents’ in the present time!
As the book went on I started to come up with theories and suspects but none were on the money until right to the end! A great page turning book about facing your past and finally finding closure.

Not being overly familiar with Australian rural fiction, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed Lawson’s Bend. There was a good mix of mystery, small town issues, interesting characters and romance that kept me intrigued to the very end. I’m glad I went for something different for me this month and I appreciate the opportunity to try new genres and to get to know fabulous authors like Nicole Hurley-Moore, Thanks Beauty and Lace and Allen & Unwin

This book is full of mystery from the beginning. The Henny asks about the accident the more she realizes that not everything adds up and it seems something sinister happened that same night. This book was a wonderful read and highly recommend. I couldn’t put it down. Thanks Beauty and Lace!
This rural romance was a nice one even though it included some tragic memories from the past. The book tackles a number of different moods and tones but it’s great that the main characters finally got some closure.
