Okay, so its way past this little book reviewers bedtime but I had to get up and come tell you about this amazing book while its all still right here in my head. So, it’s past midnight and I’ve thrown myself out of bed to race to the computer. Ransacked the desk for writing implements so I can start hand writing while I wait for the interminably slow computer to decide it’s going to wake up.
Couldn’t it have waited? I hear you thinking. Well, yes, it probably could but who’s to say what a sleep would do to my initial reactions.
What Kate Did Next, is a captivating (needless to say as I was still up engrossed in it at midnight) novel about a thirty-something woman re-evaluating the direction of her life. Honest and simply written, a story that every woman can identify with. Who hasn’t sat back at some point and wondered how did I get here? Where am I going? And to be completely honest, how do I escape?
I really don’t want to say too much because this is a story you really need to immerse yourself in, you don’t want me telling you all about it and risk taking away from the experiences you could have with it.
This is a story that every woman will take something different away from in the way it relates to their own life. Kate is mother, wife, daughter, sister and trying to re-enter the workforce. This book takes us through the trials and heartbreaks of all those roles and the difficulty of trying to find the balance without losing yourself – and the road to rediscovering yourself when you realise what got lost along the way.
Again, not my usual genre but I found that once I got involved I couldn’t put the book down. I had to see where Kate’s journey would lead her and if she would manage to navigate through all the obstacles to find her happy ending – or happy new beginning.
An inspirational message to all women that with determination and imagination you really can achieve anything. And no matter how far you’ve strayed from the dreams and aspirations you were so intent upon as a teenager there is always a way back to that path. Things may not be exactly how you envisioned them but the important factors will be there.
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
