Mango by JD Murphy is a fictional crime thriller.

JD Murphy says,

“What is life without a good yarn? The book examines the clashes possible between the cultures and faiths inherent in a freedom-focused nation such as Australia”.

He trusts that the readers are entertained by yet another acclaimed yarn, and this book certainly entertains.

Detective Senior Sargent Jade Reynolds is with the Queensland Police. Her office is a mobile phone, laptop, and an unmarked police car full of gadgets.

While having a coffee at her favourite café, a toddler rushes over and grabs the mango from Jade’s plate. His mother, Cynthia, follows him to apologise. Jade and Cynthia really get on well, so much so that Cynthia gives Jade her number and invites her to her house.

Cynthia is a wealthy, complex business operator. She has business and contacts around the world. Jade and Cynthia begin a relationship and Jade tries very hard to keep her personal life separate from her work life.

There are multiple situations happening to keep Queensland police busy. A series of brutal murders are taking place and terrorist cells are infiltrating Australia with plans for mass destruction.

Someone wants Jade out of the way permanently…she is getting too close to the truth.

What makes it interesting is, we know who is behind the attempts on Jade’s life and why. But Jade has no idea who it is that wants to harm her.

I definitely wanted to learn about Jade’s fate!

This may not be the book for everyone. The murder scenes are very graphic and Jade’s relationship encounters are quite descriptive.

I enjoyed the book and found the detective work and the different cultures and faiths interesting. It is a good yarn.

  1. Hello to all of the reviewers who put fingers to keypads for feedback.

I appreciate the depth and honesty of these reviews.

I am also deeply pleased that Jade has won some appreciative friends in your reading world.

Mango was conceived as the second book of a trilogy.

The third part will be set in Israel and will mesh nicely with world events of the time. I have to, eventually, travel there to absorb the places I will use for book structure. However, a little challenge on the form of a galloping virus has changed near term travel plans.

The first part concerns Jade’s growth from childhood to young adulthood. It is intended to mirror the experiences of many children who ‘will fall through the cracks’ of civilized society.

    Thanks again. Read on!
