There are practical camping tips and gardening how tos which will make you look out of the square and get back to nature. In addition there are plenty of impractical projects which put a smile on my face – it might be just me but I don’t have much use for a compass or water bicycle.

Regardless of whether you actually make anything in this book or not, it is a fun little reference to have on your bookshelf or coffee table and you can get a taste of life before television and the internet.

Make sure you check out the DIY on how to turn a kitchen fork into a mini rake, it may sound crazy but it’s perfect for your indoor herb garden.

Available from all good bookstores.
