This week we are going to go look at the writing space of Jed La Lumiere, author of Patience – A Gay Man’s Virtue. I don’t want to tell you too much about Jed here because we are lucky enough to be having him over for a proper interview soon and that will give us a lot more information so I’m going to leave it at that and let’s go see where he gets creative.
What is on your desk?
My PC, which I use for writing. You can see my MAC in the background, I use that for artwork. I’m bi-platform. I also have my water jug to prevent dehydration. When I write it could be hours before I remember to get up.
My mouse, and my gorgeous David mouse pad, which his head is covered by the mouse. You will also note the TV remote controls on the table. Not that the TV is on when I write.
What shouldn’t be on your desk?
My iPhone (not shown in the picture as I was using it to take the picture). Every ding, blip or ring I pick the darn thing up and it distracts me. I really should have it off when I am writing, but that is not feasible all of the time.
Why does this area motivate you?
The chair that I sit in faces the ocean. While this is not technically my office, I find it is the best place to write out of any room in the whole house.
Are there any items of particular significance?
See that glass, next to the water jug? Yeah, that’s not water, well at least not all of it. After a long day of writing, that little glass of liquid-unwind is very important.
How often do you spend in this workspace each day?
Depending on the day eight to ten hours. That is why it is important for my space to be clear of clutter, open and airy.
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
