I am a fan of books as gifts, they last a lifetime when they are loved and the right book can be kept and handed down through the generations. This is just part of why I think every child should be gifted a book at Christmas.
Even the littlest people in your life can benefit from a beautiful book. Before they are able to read children gain a lot from together time with someone reading to them or there are great board books and illustrated books that they can use their imaginations for.
Today we have a couple of amazing books for the little people you love, and I know a couple who would love these stories.
Fairy tales are classic, and from a young age many of us are familiar with the same stories that enchanted our parents and our grandparents. I always find it exciting when I discover a fairy tale that has been redone, or used for inspiration for a totally different tale.
The first of the books I have for you today is The Little Bad Wolf.
The Little Bad Wolf spends his time running around a fairy tale town trying to make trouble, especially for Mrs Pig. The Little Bad Wolf wants to live up to the reputation of his grandfather, The Big Bad Wolf, but it seems that Mrs Pig thinks he’s too little to cause trouble.
I have three kids so I know that size is no barrier to causing mischief, and I think Mrs Pig agrees but she’s a wise old pig who knows that sometimes it’s all about how you deal with a situation.
The illustrations in this book are amazing, they are very busy and bright with lots to capture little imaginations. There are gems to be found on every page and if your little one is restless the book would be fantastic for games of eye spy and look what we can find.
The story is quite funny and will delight young readers.
Author Sam Bowring is a comedian and writer and he teams up with the versatile and talented illustrator Lachlan Creagh.
