Mandy Magro is the bestselling Queensland author of rural romance stories that have found quite a following here at Beauty and Lace. We have read a few of Magro’s back catalogue as part of the book club and some of our readers are already loving this one.
Sophie Copinni takes a hit to her love life and returns to her Far North Queensland hometown to lick her wounds and reassess her life. Looking down the barrel of 30 is a perfect time to find the bucket list she wrote as a teen. Most of the challenges are fun, until you get to the long-held family secret that caused her to run all those years ago.
Secrets, lies and family histories all scream mystery and scandal so there’s sure to be a bit of suspense and hopefully a well plotted story with perfectly parcelled out clues and a couple of unforeseen twists.
Dylan Stone is also home on sabbatical, taking a break from the Sydney tattoo parlour he runs. A permanent homecoming is tempting to consider when you are surrounded by the landscape and the loved ones you miss but when the woman who broke your heart and ran away is also back in town you have to wonder if it’s worth it.
Secrets and heartbroken high-school sweethearts woven together in a picturesque hometown, this one sounds like intriguing reading. I can’t wait to sink my teeth in.
Mandy Magro can be followed on Facebook and her Website.
A Country Mile is published by Harlequin Mira and is available now from Angus & Robertson Bookworld, Booktopia and where all good books are sold.

I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!

As an avid reader of rural romance, Mandy Magro’s New release A country Mile did not disappoint!
As a busy working mum of two little ones, I sometimes find it hard to find time to read. However, with this book I made the time! (And stayed up a bit too late )
The story follows main character Sophie and ex boyfriend Dylan. After Sophie returns to Australia after a nasty breakup she runs back into Dylan’s arms in hope they can pickup where they left off.
Of course, as in life and love nothing is ever easy and there was quite a few hurdles and secrets along the way to uncover.
With some great twists and turns, A country mile isn’t just your normal rural romance predictible story.
It was an incredibly easy, but enthralling read and I am as usual not dissatisfied at all with this book.
I highly recommend A Country Mile to everyone 🙂
Mandy Margo has written a fabulous country love story.
Sophie is a lovable character and her turmoil, sadness and regret form a great building block for the developments of the story.
Dylan is tall and rough on the outside and soft and conflicted on the inside. He is a biker, a tattoo artist and a horse lover at heart.
They come together for a wedding after some pretty tricky past issues. Through in a hens and bucks night, Some crazy family history between neighbouring families and you have a plot that unravels to cause heartache and confusing and leads to closure, love and everlasting bonds.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story. Its was beautiful, heartwarming and engaging. 🙂
I LOVED this book. I have read all of Mandy’s books, and when this one came up, I was thrilled. From the very first page, right until the last, I couldn’t put it down. Twists and turns in the lives of the characters kept me wanting to keep on reading, to see how it would unfold. Secrets and lies, murder, romance and rekindled love, set this up to be one heck of a great read.
I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great read, as are all of Mandy’s books.
I really enjoyed reading this book, not the standard romance but a good few twists and turns along the way with a good dose of drama added. A great ending made a very good story, would definitely recommend!
I was stoked to find I had been selected to review A Country Mile. Mandy Magro has always been a favourite author of mine – I must admit I stalked the postie for days!
I sat down one night while my partner was working in the shed – I thought I would read a couple of chapters and then start cooking dinner…. yet again I was wrong with another 9pm dinner (and a basic one at that!)
I couldnt stop at just those two chapters, I needed to know more!
Not just your standard romance, the twists and turns leave you wanting more! I really enjoyed the story line and I so hope there is a sequel – the last page was my least favourite – because I wanted to know what happened next!
Thanks for another great book Mandy – can’t wait for the next!
It’s been awhile since I read this book and thought I’d posted a review but obviously forgot!
This book was very easy to read and quite predictable. However I thoroughly enjoyed it as it was a nice romance to read. The characters were likeable and relatable. I would recommend this book to anyone who always held a candle for that old flame and wants to read a nice romance. Thank you beauty and lace for allowing me the opportunity to read this book.
