Twilight fans you need to brace yourselves for a treat! The time for you to get the answers to all the questions you have about the Twilight series may just be sitting within these pages awaiting your discovery.
The beginning of this companion is a note from Stephenie, a note from the Publishers and then a mammoth interview/conversation between Stephenie and one of her author friends Shannon Hale. This interview is an insightful look into the life of Stephenie Meyer, the way she thinks, where this whole saga came from and how she got to where she is today.
Within these pages lie the answers to many questions, even including a Frequently Asked Question section at the back, but that’s only the beginning of the beauty of this book. I really am at a place where I’m not sure where to begin the praise for this essential addition to every Twilight fans collection.
In an acknowledgment of the widespread appeal of the Twilight saga and the impression it has made on it’s fans there is an entire section dedicated to Fan Art. Here are some gorgeous illustrations drawn by fans to depict scenes and snapshots of this series that have touched them. There are some beautifully drawn pictures of how the fans see these characters when they read the books and a sampling of the International covers of the different editions.
Regardless of what you came away from Twilight with, if you loved the books and the movies there will be something in this book to make you proud you have added it to your collection.
Beautifully bound in a hardcover edition this is a 544 page glossy full colour Twilight heaven. Everything you can think of is contained in this little companion.
A descriptive look at the Twilight vampires and where their characteristics may differ a little from the vampires of myth and ancient lore and the history of vampires in the Twilight universe. I think some of the most informative and important parts of this section are the two on Vampire Law and Vampire Myth, they put into perspective where we are at with the Twilight vampires and explain a lot about the why’s of Twilight.
Not only will you read an in-depth and complete character profile of all the major, and a lot of the minor, characters in this saga; you will also read about each of the covens. This will fill you in on all of that background information you never had, or were never clear on; explaining where and how these vampires and covens came to be.
A complete companion would be sorely lacking without the same in-depth attention to the Quilete Werewolves, their origins and myths. Why they are how they are and how they came to exist. More than that there is detailed descriptions of their characteristics, abilities and lifestyles. Topped off by a well laid out and eye catching complete set of family trees tracing the bloodlines of the Quilete tribe.
Throughout the entire companion there are interesting and relevant quotes from the players in the saga. Each character profile is capped by a list of memorable quotes and where they appeared in the series.
Rounding off this impressive, interesting insight into the Twilight Saga is a timeline and key plot point listing. These will give you the start to finish of the Twilight universe in a brief glance. The timeline is an at a glance look at what happened when from the birth of Aro, Caius and Marcus in 1400-1200 B.C. right up to the Volturi’s arrival on December 31st, 2006.
Key Plot Points is a chapter dedicated to the synopsis of the series. Dot point notes depicting what’s going on from Bella moving to Forks in chapter one of Twilight to the beginning of happily ever after in chapter 39 of Breaking Dawn.
What guide would be incomplete without a chapter for the Car lovers? Included here is a breakdown of all the vehicles that make an appearance in the Twilight Saga; the car, it’s performance information and a little bit about how the car relates to its owner and what makes them compatible.
One of the most interesting aspects of this book for me is the Inspirations chapter. Stephenie Meyer writes the best with music playing so the Inspirations chapter gives us the playlist to the Saga; the songs that she listened to that inspired here, and where that inspiration fit into the story. Each song is listed with a quote from the place in the saga that it inspired. A very interesting read to see how they fit together.
Overall this is a MUST HAVE for Twilight fans, for it’s quirky tidbits of little known information, and the back-stories you may never have known. I’m sure I’ll be going back to it time and time again to see what else I have to learn!
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
