Violet Eden is back and her second chapter certainly is Enticing. Phoenix may have the ability to control emotions and increase desire but it is definitely a talent he learned from Jessica Shirvington because she can drag you in and hold you in the thrall of her story, unable and unwilling to look away.

Enticed sees Violet beginning to embrace her life as a Grigori, learning to juggle her human life as a 17 year old attending school and living at home with her father – who is hardly ever home which often works in her favour. Violet will always be on a journey seeking answers about  herself, her life and her history because her mother died in childbirth and her father knew nothing of the life she had led before him. Violet has a long journey ahead of her to discover who she is before she can test the limits of her power.

Grigori leader Griffin brings in reinforcements from New York to assist with Violet’s training as well as help track down leads to important documents that have been lost for thousands of years. Documents that could shift the balance of power between the Grigori and the Exiles irreversibly so the race is on to see who can get their first.

enticed

This is a quest with epic consequences which means everyone needs to be focused on the goal, no time for distraction. But, of course, this quest wasn’t meant to be easy! A time when team work is the key and trust in each other is the ultimate weapon is a time where everyone is hiding a secret and even the two truth seekers manage to be fooled. Someone is sure to be betrayed, the question is who and how bad will the fallout be?

There were hands in the background orchestrating the events of Enticed from start to finish and you may be surprised to discover who they belonged to!

If you have read Embrace you know that Lincoln and Violet are Grigori partners and as such can never be more than that. They had this explained to them, they discussed the issue and they knew that the all encompassing love they both felt would need to be kept in check and never allowed to find a voice.

So why is it that New York Grigori partners Nyla and  Rudyard seem so much more than Grigori partners, bonded so much more intimately than brother and sister. Is there really hope for Lincoln and Violet after all? At what cost…. and is it worth the price? You will have to read Enticed to find out because I don’t intend to tell you!

Violet is carried along on the tempestuous tide that her life has turned into since she embraced, never quite feeling in control and never quite sure that she actually has a choice. Yes, free will plays a large part in the foundations of everything Angel lore is built on but depending on the presentation it doesn’t always seem like there really is a choice. This seems to be the hardest thing for Violet – always so in control – to get her head around and learn to live with.

Jessica Shirvington has woven some fabulous Angelic and religious lore into the Violet Eden Chapters, so seamlessly that it’s hard to decipher what is and isn’t true historic fact. That, in my opinion, is the mark of a talented story teller! The characters are vivid and attach  you to them – though not always in a good way.

If you liked Embrace then you simply can’t miss Enticed! And if you haven’t read Embrace then it is definitely worth sinking your mind into.

Some brilliant cliffhanger moments leading up to the close of the series which have left me itching to sink into Emblaze!
