Road to Rosalee by Mandy Magro is a wonderful read. It is a story of romance and family, set in the beautiful Australian outback.
Lucy Harrison has not been honest with her daughter Melody. For 23 years she has kept the identity of Melody’s father and the fact that she has never ever told him about Melody a secret. Now as she is dying, Lucy, gives Melody all the details to locate her father.
As it turns out, thanks to Google, it is very easy for her to locate him!
Melody is married to Antonio. They are partners in an up-market café in Sydney. Their success is due to Melody’s passion for her cooking.
They married after a whirlwind romance and now four years later, marriage counselling has not solved their problems.
Grieving for her mother and with the realisation that her cheating husband is not likely to change his ways, Melody takes leave from the restaurant to go in search of her father.
It takes courage to knock on a stranger’s door and announce, you are my biological dad!
Her journey takes her to Rosalee Station in outback Queensland, which is owned by Matt and Sarah Walsh and their family.
When Melody and Zai Wellston, the head stockman, meet there is a very strong mutual attraction.
The station cook suddenly resigns and Melody decides to take on the role, giving her the chance to extend her outback stay.
Melody finds that the outback has a healing quality. “Never a day passed where Melody didn’t bear witness to something that stirred her soul and touched her heart.”
Melody reminds herself that she hadn’t come here to fall for a man, and she has a lot of unfinished business in Sydney. She had come to find her father, and herself.
Taking one step at a time Melody works out the direction her life is going to take.
Mandy Magro is well known for her successful romance stories set in the Australian outback. This book certainly does not disappoint, with strong characters and a romance that doesn’t run smoothly it certainly keeps you engaged.
This is the third book in the Rosalee series. The story stands alone, but if you do choose to read the earlier two books you will love them too!

I love to read, any book on any topic. I now love ebooks as they are easier to store, I was running out of bookshelves! My other interests are family, gardening and our beautiful King Charles spaniel dog who is my reading companion.
Another great easy reading, light book by Mandy Magro.
Like all of Mandy’s books her writing and story just flows, making it so easy to understand and keep track of all the characters and follow the story.
I loved both Melody and stockman Zai, they were both great easy going characters and it really was a pleasure to follow them and their stories.
I have read all of Mandy’s previous books and this one didnt disapoint, its another fantastic rural romance from one of Australia’s best Rural romance writers. A perfect gift for Mum or your older sister!
Thanks to Beauty and lace and Harper Collins for the opportunity to read this great book!
Melody’s life is in turmoil and she is exhausted. Melody’s marriage is falling apart, her husband has cheated on her and the stress of working together in their upmarket city cafe is making life very difficult for them. Add to this, Melody’s mum Lucy is dying and she doesn’t have much time left. Just before Lucy passes, she tells Melody the true identity of her father, someone Melody has never known.
After the passing of her mum, Melody decides to find her father and travels to a station in outback Queensland. She meets her father Matt, his wife and son. After the initial shock they embrace the news that Melody is Matt’s daughter and take her under their wing. The timing is perfect as they need a station cook and Melody, being a chef, takes on the role; she needs time away from the city to sort out her life and to make some big decisions, particularly about her marriage and business.
It is during her stay that romance blossoms but naturally there are many speed bumps along the way.
Mandy Magro is a prolific writer of rural romance. Road to Rosalee is the third book in the series but also reads well as a stand alone book. This was an enjoyable read, a very believable story and the characters were all endearing. I will happily recommend this book to lovers of rural romance.

Thank you for the copy of Road To Rosalee by Mandy Magro.
I love a good rural romance. This book had wonderful imagery and a different story. There were a lot of Australian sayings and colloquialisms included which may make it hard for overseas readers to understand parts of.
Having said that I enjoyed the story of Melody Harrison. She has just lost her mother and her marriage to Antonio is not going well. Her mother had a deathbed confession for Melody which changes her view of the world and sends her on a mission to find her father. When she does she finds he is lovely and welcomes her into his rural life. This leads to a change in scenery and leads her to Zai Wellstone. He has his own issues with his family. They both end up at Rosalee Station with a very different life of camp cooking as opposed to her city cafe cooking. Melody finds she is attracted to the simpler way of life with genuine people who care for her. The tension between her and Zai builds, but with both having secrets, can they get past these to find each other?
Rural life in this novel has its share of issues, but is also quite romanticised and takes you on the journey. Issues are not anywhere near sorted for quite a while and it makes you wonder how it will happen. As with real life, there are always spanners in the works and things take a turn, but hopefully true love can win out.
I enjoyed the story and would recommend to rural romance readers.

I loved reading this book, its a really easy and charming novel. It revolves around Melody and the direction her life takes when her mother passes away. She feels like she is in a loveless marriage and she wants to find her father.
I really enjoyed Melody’s journey to fulfill her heart. I read this book over 2 days and found it very easy to finish.
I always love a good Australian story in the outback.
An easy to read novel which I did find reasonably predictable but still enjoyable. I loved the description of the Australian outback and the characters were loveable.
A great light read.
What a joy of a story, set in the iconic Australian outback, on Queensland remote Rosalee Station with gorgeous Zia helicopter muster pilot, and very capable city chef Melody.
The novel follows Melody’s journey discovering who her dad is after her mum discloses his name on her death bed, and following her journey as Melody is warmly welcomed into the Walsh family, Matt his gorgeous wife Sarah and their young son Beau, and Melody’s adventure swapping the bustling streets of Sydney to the laid back rural lifestyle.
I loved the ockerisms sprinkled throughout, coupled with the Cockney rhyming slang which added a distinct flavour to the story and I felt was so well suited to the outback setting. This was such an enjoyable read for me the characters were so real and their stories were relatable, they were a perfect fit and melded together nicely.
Thank you so much Beauty and Lace and Harper Collins for the opportunity to read and review “Road to Rosalee” by Mandy Magro, who always succeeds in putting the ‘rural’ in her romance novels so beautifully, and fingers crossed I am fortunate enough to also review Mandy’s 2022 book ‘Back to Country.’
