Her Glorious Sunshine Awaits by Tracey Friday introduces us to 5-year-old Alice.
In Sydney in 1925, Alice learnt the pickpocket trade from her demanding father. She is very skilled and good at her trade but starts to question the morals of what they are doing.
Her father mistreats her mother and takes all the money that Alice makes. As time goes by, Alice starts to plan her escape and wants to follow her desire to start a life on her own far away from his demands.
As a young teen, she escapes to The Blue Mountains where she lives with two very caring and protective older sisters that take her under their wings. She discovers a love of horses, and it is this love that has her moving to Western Australia. This is where her life takes many twists and turns.
I found this story so lovely to read. I fell in love with Alice and had to keep reading to find out what turns would happen next. Alice is the kind of person that you want to be friends with because no matter how harsh her start was in life, she didn’t allow that to rule her future.
This is an intriguing story and a book that you need to put on your summer holiday reading list.

Thankyou Beautyandlace and Shawline Publishing group for the opportunity to read ‘Her Glorious Sunshine Awaits’ by Tracey Friday.
The story, the beginning set in Sydney 1925 follows the life of Alice Johnson.
Trained into crime as just a child Alice is manipulated to help her father by pickpocketing and also acting as a decoy.
Alice’s mother Rose is treated cruely by her husband who was planning on a son when Alice was born.
Alice vows that one day she will marry someone caring and the opposite of her father. Both Alice and Rose live in fear of him.
Circumstances leading to Alice being orphaned see Alice travelling around various areas of Australia and taking on work where-ever she is.
She is very capable of fending for herself owing to her upbringing, but sometimes she ends up in precarious circumstances.
This was an interesting story with strong characters, an enjoyable read.

Dear Beauty and Lace Admin, I hovered my mouse over the ‘rate stars’ hoping to see the star reviews and ‘accidently’ rated myself (the author) 2 stars!! Oh no, ha ha! For anyone looking at the reviews and spots a 2 star review, please forgive the author and her over-keen mouse. Alas, I could not delete it. I’ll think I’ll log out and get myself a coffee and a biscuit.
Dear Admin, can you delete the 2 star for me? xx
Oh no…haha … Now that wasn’t the best of moves.
it definitely wasn’t the best at all !! Ha ha.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading! This is a book that I know will definitely re-read over the years. It is one of those books you cannot put down!!!

Her Glorious Sunshine Awaits, by Tracey Friday is a great book to curl up with. The characters are likeable and believable. I quickly became engrossed in the story and clung to the hope that Alice would eventually find her rightful place in the world. Luckily life pans out beautifully for Alice, as it definitely should. Her torturous childhood apart, she eventually finds the man and life she always wanted!
A truly feel good read!
Thank you to all involved for allowing me the opportunity to read this book. I enjoyed it!

Thanks Beauty and Lace for the opportunity to read Her Glorious Sunshine Awaits – I found this book to be an easy read for this time of year when we are all so busy and enjoy some quiet reading – Alice grows up in a house of violence and is put to work by her horrible father – circumstances change in her life and due to a strange twist of fate she manages to escape that life and embark on a new one – Alice follows her dreams and eventually finds her glorious sunshine.
Thank you Fiona! I’m thrilled that you enjoyed the read and totally agree it is good to have a little ‘me’ time at this busy time of year. I am also honoured that you chose Alice’s story. Thank you, I appreciate your review.
I enjoyed Her Glorious Sunshine Awaits very much. Alice was a strong character who was very likeable and I wanted her to succeed all the way.
Her encounter with the lovely elderly ladies in the Blue Mountains was beautiful and they helped her very much. I was pleased when her life turned around as she hoped.
I would recommend this book to anyone wanting an easy read over the holidays.
Thank you Carla for your great review, very much appreciated and I’m thrilled you connected with Alice and also Pip and Tish (I love them!) My characters and I had a blast with some of the scenes. Kind regards, Tracey.
Alice’s story begins in 1925 where she is growing up in a household of violence, crime and domestic abuse. As the only child, her father teaches her how to pick pockets from an early age. Alice is subjected to the seamier side of life but manages to retain a sense of right and wrong and is determined to escape one day.
At the age of fifteen, her chance arises and she spends the next years working on racetracks and on cattle and sheep stations, all over Australia. Her love for horses and willingness to work hard and learn quickly give her many places to call home and many kind people who care for her.
The author is clearly engaged with Australian history and the lives of women, and it includes some lovely descriptions and interesting historical aspects of both cities and the outback.
Thank you Shawline Publishing and Beauty & Lace for the chance to read it.
