Author: Robyn Carr
Hidden Summit tells the story of something I have long believed; that when you least expect it, when you have stopped looking for it and when you have decided that it is the absolute last thing in the world that you want, that’s when love will sneak up behind you and sink its claws deep into your heart.
Another belief I hold close that is demonstrated by Carr in the Hidden Summit is that sometimes out of the ashes of a traumatic life changing experience blooms the best things we could imagine for ourselves. Things that never would have happened without the devastation!
Many people spend years of their lives looking for the perfect partner, the passionate love, the person that completes them. Instead I decided I’d had enough of men and the single life suited me perfectly, learning to go it alone and exploring my independence – of course that’s right when my husband came along and changed the course of my future. It seems that Connor and Leslie may just be in the running for something similar.
Robyn Carr brings together all the elements of a compulsory page turner in this novel that tells it’s story succinctly, being only 284 pages, but is still satisfying.
I don’t want to add any spoilers so I need to be careful with what I say, Connor and Leslie both leave their hometowns for reasons of their own that come with some pretty hefty baggage and start hanging out in the friendly small town of Virgin River.
I know that it’s supposed to be the middle of summer now but that doesn’t change what I’m about to say. I think this would make a great mid winter read, curled up with a blanket somewhere, because there are some decidedly hot and steamy scenes going on that are sure to get your blood pumping. They are quite descriptive and detailed, explicitly sexy and sure to see y0u swoon!
This isn’t just a steamy story with some filler to keep you going from one bedroom scene to the next. The characters are complex and well written with touching back stories and a whole host of friendly small town characters to keep you on your toes.
Kick back and escape to Virgin River for an afternoon, or better yet a weekend, you won’t be sorry you did. It’s the kind of place that no-one stays a stranger for long so make yourself at home.
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years, I have broadened my horizons considerably. In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews. Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS!
