Author: Fiona Lowe
Escape Publishing have brought together eight talented Aussie authors for a collaborative series of short stories set in the small Queensland town of Milpinyani Springs.
Kelly is not a born and bred member of the Mipinyani Springs township, she and her husband moved to the tiny outback town from Brisbane. Life is very different in the tiny drought stricken town for the local doctor and his family.
Grant and Kelly have been married a decade and they have always been a team, but lately there doesn’t seem to be a lot of teamwork going on. Grant is working long hours and Kelly seems to be dealing with most of the day to day stuff on her own. All of which translates to a rather quiet bedroom with Grant exhausted by the time he finally makes it home at night.
Kelly’s story is one many mothers will be able to relate to; feeling like they are in less than prime physical shape, missing the spark they used to share in their bedroom and sometimes like they are doing the bulk of the hard yards on their own.
The snapshot Lowe offers into Kelly’s life gives us the day to day dramas Kelly faces and the way in which the couple manage to flare the spark of chemistry between them back into life.
Lowe illustrates how important communication can be, and a little time out for a couple to reconnect even when the demands of day to day life are all encompassing. Interestingly, it’s the words of wisdom from a 92 yr old patient that helps Kelly put it all into perspective.
Kelly’s story is steamy with elements of the new and adventurous in a tried and true long term relationship.
I enjoyed the look into Kelly’s life, as a mother of three almost ready to clock up 15yrs of marriage I could relate to her plight and enjoyed the glimpse into her life, and the ways in which they were able to reignite the spark that was most definitely still there between them.

My blurb went missing… so now I have to bring you a new one. One that is a little broader too.
I devour books, vampires and supernatural creatures are my genre of choice but over the past couple of years I have broadened my horizons considerably.
I inhale music, hair metal that satisfies my inner bogan is where my musical passion lies, but again I’ve been exposed to lots of different music I wouldn’t normally listen to and have broadened those horizons also.
In a nutshell – I love to write! I love interacting with a diverse range of artists to bring you interviews.
Perhaps we were perfect before – I LOVE WORDS! Reading, writing, speaking, listening – if it’s got words I’m there!
