You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yeti! is the second book in the Nothing To See Here Hotel series and it is sure to be a hit with little fans of the first book. The Nothing To See Here Hotel is written with an audience of 6+ in mind.

I gave this one to my 10year old son to read and report back to me on. He’s a boy of few words (sometimes) and he could only tell me that yeah it was good and he enjoyed it. Sorry mate, not really very helpful. It’s a book that he read in a couple of days.

The Nothing To See Here Hotel is a luxury getaway for magical creatures of all descriptions, run by humans; except they aren’t pure-blood humans as you will soon discover.

The story is written by Frankie Bannister, the young son of the hoteliers, and tells of all the adventures, or misadventures as the case may be, of life in the hotel.

The language is a little nonsensical, which will be perfect to tickle the tonsils of young ones reading along. The text is a decent size, most of the pages are illustrated and the chapters are pretty short which will make for a more engaging read for young readers. It will also make it easier on the parent if you are using it as reading together time before bed, I only say this because we were reading Harry Potter by the chapter before bed and some of those were REALLY long chapters.

This looks like a smashing good read and I look forward to reading what our members and their children thought.

  1. Another delightful tale of monsters, magic and mayhem.

Every page was full of fun and fantastic characters and the illustrations brought the story to life. It’s definitely a hotel full of life!

This book is great for the young and young at heart.

  2. Continuing funny tales are presented to the reader in the book ‘You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yeti’ by Steven Butler.

Having read the first book ‘The Nothing to See Here Hotel’, this book was a welcome addition for our Miss 8 and Miss 11. Sparking any child’s great imagination, the author presents a hotel run by Frankie Banister and his family, offering getaways for all assortment of magical creatures. With that comes crazy antics, talking wallpaper and exploding ectoplasm. From pygmy soot-dragons and stink demons to crazy named characters like Mr Croakum, the hotel gardener; this time the creatures are celebrating their most festive occasion of the calendar year, Trogmanay. An impending blizzard sees all manner of crazy creatures arrive, all confined indoors by the snow storm.

Using silly terms throughout the book like ‘What the blunkers is occurrinating’ and appealing pictures, this book is again sure to appeal.

A big thank you to Beauty & Lace and Simon & Schuster for another delightfully amusing children’s book by Steven Butler.

  3. Thanks for the opportunity to read ‘The Nothing To See Here Hotel,’ with my little friend. He was a big fan of the first book and this book is even more weird and wacky!

The guests of The Nothing To See Here Hotel are welcomed to enjoy the biggest celebration in the magical calendar, the summer festival of Trogmanay, which has lots of excitement, music and mountains of food for all.

But the Festival is disturbed by the arrival of a yeti family masquerading as a freak snowstorm, causing much drama! More and more mysterious guests turn up and something strange and sinister is lurking in the hotel causing chaos and confusion.

This is a funny and crazy story by author Steven’s Butler’s with pictures by Steven Lenton showing all the dark and delightful details. It was a real hit for the number one fan – and I have to say I enjoyed it too!

    Thanks again

  4. My son had not yet read the first book in this serious but that did not matter as he was laughing along and enjoying in only a couple of pages in.

The story in his words was ‘very funny and quirky.’ awe enjoyed reading this text together at night and it is a book you can pick up and put down easily and still follow the storyline. My son is 8 and thoroughly enjoyed it so would recommend it to kids around this age.

A big thank you to Beauty and Lace and Simon & Schuster for the opportunity to read this delightful book.

  5. My stepson (aged 8) hadn’t read the first book in the series and I’m not sure if that would have helped his enjoyment of the story. He struggled to be engaged in the story and by the end thought it was ok and funny in parts but he wouldn’t necessarily read another story. There were a lot of characters to keep track of and the unusual phrases may not have helped with his enjoyment.
I would give the book to other children of a similar age.

  6. My 8 year old son loved this, was a great read for him and my 5 year old also enjoyed this being read to him! My boys love a funny story and always like a stranger things.

  7. My 7yo daughter was looking forward to this book as she had already read the first one which she thoroughly enjoyed. She loved reading about the next adventures the main character would have. The following is her written review:

“You Ain’t Seen Nothing Yeti belongs to a series. The main characters are Frankie Banister and Zingri. Zingri is a blue girl Yeti and Frankie Banister is half human and half GOBLEM!! the problem is that its TROGMANAY and a snowstorm blows in as well as lots of mysterious guests visit and ruin their TROGMANAY.”

It was a delight to for her to be able to read and review this book. thanks for the opportunity.

After talking to her, she thoroughly enjoyed this next installment with giggles and all the different things that occur in the book. she said that there’s so many things that happen she couldn’t pick her favourite part.

  8. My 9 year old son loved the wacky characters in this book. He wishes he could go to this amazing hotel to celebrate Trogmanay too! The illustrations are perfect for his age group. It is nice listening to him laugh as he tells me about the strange guests.

  9. My 10 year old boy read this book and enjoyed it. He hadn’t read the first book in the series so I don’t think it matters if you read it alone. It has lots of interesting monster characters and is a tale told by a boy named Frankie who is human with some monster ancestry.

Well recommended as a great read for young children.
