Thank you Beauty and Lace for the opportunity to read it!

I thoroughly enjoyed this beautifully written Australian saga. It was very hard to put down.

This is a story about Jenny who has had a very difficult upbringing in life.

She would dearly like to find her long lost son. Many people don’t realise how hard her life has been and what she’s had to endure, All the secrets and all the lies she’s had to keep and tell so they wouldn’t hurt other people. Jenny has always had to put on a brave face for others.

Jenny has an adopted daughter Trudy that has been in a very abusive relationship for many years and she’s worried that she won’t be able to get her twin boys away from him.

Tragedy strikes Jennys own life So she decides to sell up and have a holiday overseas. But will she find what she’s looking for?

  1. I loved this book Trails in the Dust by Joy Dettman but I have read all the other books in the series and I can understand why some people had trouble sorting out the characters.
The story follows Jenny Hooper after a tragedy strikes her life and the secrets and lies that have been a part of her life. The perfect ending to The Woody Creek series of books – loved it and all the other ones – highly recommend completing the series beginning with Pearl in the Cage.

  2. Neither the cover of this book, nor the blurb mention that this is part a series, so when I picked it up I was thoroughly confused about who was who and there are a lot of characters.
I did catch on after a while and grew to enjoy the characters and the story, but found if I put it down for a few days, I had to relearn the characters relationships.
I will have to read this series from the beginning to truly understand everything within this saga.
Thanks to Beauty and Lace Book Club and Pan Macmillan Australia for a copy in return for an honest review.
