The Plus One has got some pretty heavy duty comparisons happening and has been hailed the hottest book of 2018. It has been likened to the work of Jilly Cooper and there is a real Bridget Jones feel to the leading lady.

The Plus One [n] informal a person who accompanies an invited person to a wedding or a reminder of being single, alone and absolutely plus none

Polly Spencer is on the brink of thirty, single and not getting very much intimacy at all. She declares she’s fine though she’s still stuck writing about royal babies at Posh! magazine and she’s not real sure she’s going to be able to find a plus one to her best friend’s wedding.

A new year dawns and with it comes a determination from Polly that this is the year she will remember to shave her legs, drink less wine and just generally get it together.

She’s doing a piece on the infamous Marquess of Milton Jasper, she’s heard the stories and she’s ready. She won’t be falling for his charms, he isn’t going to be a plus one and he certainly isn’t ‘the one’.

The Plus One will make you laugh out loud with it’s witty honesty and blush with it’s raunchy steam.

We could all do with some laughter in our lives so I’m really looking forward to curling up with this one.

  1. I bought ‘The Plus One’ after reading a synopsis on B&L.

The story follows Polly and her unexpected relationship with Jasper. It a bit of fun and a rollocking ride, and ends in a not unexpected manner…..

I have to say it reminded me very much of Bridget Jones, to the point Pollys voice sound very Bridget all the way through (as did Jasper who felt very Daniel). A fun lighthearted read though!

    Recommended.

  2. A book filled with fun from the first page to the last. A cross between Bridget Jones’ Diary and 50 Shades of Grey.

Sophia has written a gloriously entertaining novel with many likeable and relatable characters, quirky statements and steamy sex scenes with enough details to make me blush; my goodness me!!

This is a lovely story and an enjoyable read. Thank you to HQ Publishers, Sophia Money-Coutts and Beauty and Lace Book Club for the opportunity of reading and reviewing this book.

  3. Loved this book!
Polly is single, has a good job and is invited to her best friends wedding. She doesn’t want to go alone, but doesn’t know whether playboy Jasper Milton, who she had to interview for her job is the right “plus One” to take.
I loved how this book was fun, not demanding to read and lighthearted.
Thank you for this read, Would love to read more of Sophia s books

  4. I loved The Plus One by Sophia Money-Coutts. I read it in two days I couldn’t put it down.
Polly is an easy character to get to know, single, writer for Posh magazine and just wants to find her plus one. It was a great light hearted read. And I actually laughed out loud in bits lol

    Thanks again Beauty and Lace

    Give me more

  5. Couldn’t put the book down, such an easy read. I loved the character Polly and the hilarious way her love and life encounters were written with Pollys histerical inner monologue playing throughout.

It was a great read and I enjoyed it immensely. I look forward to reading another one of Sophia’s books.
