Rachael Johns is a firm Aussie favourite for me and I’m always on the lookout for her next release. I was able to offer this one as a book club title through her amazing publishers, and I thank them for being such great supporters of our book club. This was the first book I read in November and I kept putting off getting a book club post up waiting to find the time to write a review. Well, I’m almost out of month and still haven’t found that time so I have to get a post up so that our fabulous readers have somewhere to share their love for this book with you.

Lost Without You was a five star read for me and I have heard lots of good things from others.

Four women, one dress and secrets that will leave no life unchanged.

Paige MacRitchie is celebrating the launch of her picture book when her mother collapses during the speeches. The collapse changes everything and Paige soon decides she wants to honour her parents’s marriage by wearing her mother’s wedding dress when she marries.

Unfortunately the dress has long left the family, but Paige is not to be dissuaded; she is determined to track down the dress. Her investigations uncover more than she bargained for.

In an emotional tale of lives crossing paths we learn the stories of Paige and her mother Rebecca. The lovely nurse Clara and eighties-loving Josie.

This is a story of coincidences, consequences and the ties that bind through the years, and the generations.

I loved it and I hope all our readers did too.

Rachael Johns can be found on Twitter, Facebook and her Website.

  1. Thank you to Beauty and Lace for the opportunity to read Lost Without You by Rachael Johns.

This is a multi character story that initially has you wondering how they all fit together, but they do. The wedding dress (you’ve got to love a 80’s wedding dress!) brings them together.

The story of Rebecca and Clara and Josie and Paige is engaging and enjoyable to read. I can remember a friend having similar issues in the the 80’s as Rebecca and the outcome was also similar.

This is a story of families and how they are bonded together. It takes you through the history and point of view of each of the characters and helps you understand their motivations and regrets.

Engaging to read it also has its sad moments but is a thoroughly enjoyable read! I really enjoyed this book.

    Thanks again!

  2. A great read that covers a lot of issues relevant to many but lighthearted at the same time. An easy read that was very enjoyable

  3. “Lost Without You” by Rachel Johns is a usual a great read by a great author. I have read many of her books and she never lets me down.

Lost without You is a story about four women who are in one way or another linked by a wedding dress and a man from the past.

The story follows Paige and her mum Rebecca, when Paige decides to try and find the wedding dress that her mum wore on her wedding day. She wants to find it as a surprise to her mum but unfortunately her mum becomes ill and this is when life really starts to change. This adventure to find the dress then introduces us to Clara and Josie and from here on the story is filled with intrigue with many twists, sadness and from this sadness comes happiness. There is also a lot of acceptance and understanding to bring all characters closer together in ways that none of them were expecting and their lives will never be the same again.

    Highly recommended read.

  4. I have heard so many great things about this book and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it and read it for myself!!

Let me start by saying – what a great read!! The story is about four women who are brought together by a wedding dress and a man from the past.

This book was a very easy read and a big page turner.

Throughout the book you often wonder how everyone fits together but it all comes together and makes sense. A great ending!

Highly recommend for anyone wanting a lighthearted book to get them through the summer break.

  5. Rachael Johns doesn’t disappoint in this great story of love and loss – a wedding dress that interwines the lives of 4 women – I cried and thoroughly enjoyed this story of Paige, Rebecca, Josie and Clara and how they ended up all being connected – a great summer read – 5 stars from me

  6. A poignant and moving tale of four very different women and how their lives are interwoven. Secrets are revealed when Rebecca, one of the main characters, gets a life changing diagnosis and the author Rachael Johns takes you on a journey as you discover the significance that a special wedding dress has on these four complex, well-developed and relatable female characters.

This was my first Rachael Johns novel and I really enjoyed the themes she explored in Lost Without You – of love, friendship, relationships, trust, life-altering sicknesses and loss. The four diverse female characters, at various stages of their lives, and their significant others face various life issues that many can relate to. Rachael Johns masterfully portrays the emotion and impacts felt by each character that the reader can’t help feel empathetic towards most, if not all of them – even if you personally haven’t been through that life experience. I sympathised mostly with Rebecca and felt sorry for how she was treated as a result of “skeletons coming out of the closet” and felt quite frustrated and annoyed with Paige and Clara’s behaviour and increasingly disliked these characters and how selfish they were as the story progressed.

Lost Without You is beautifully written and I highly recommend that you add it to your list of must reads. Thank you Beauty and Lace and Harlequin for the opportunity to provide an honest review.
