This month we were super lucky to source 20 copies of both Dinosaur Roar and Ten Terrible Dinosaurs.

We have new editions of these iconic children’s picture books. Dinosaur Roar is a 25th Anniversary Edition and Ten Terrible Dinosaurs was first published in 1997.

I guarantee that these bright and eye catching picture books are going to be just as popular with children of today as they were with original audiences in the 1990s.

My almost 5 year old and I sat to read these together and he insisted we read them a second time, directly after finishing the first read.

Dinosaur Roar has been heralded a modern classic, it is now twenty-five years old and has never been out of print. This anniversary edition has been produced from original artwork that’s been re-scanned and is endorsed by the Natural History Museum.

Dinosaur Roar is a fun rhyming book that relies on opposing adjectives to describe a menagerie of dinosaurs.

We have a family of dinosaur lovers, especially the Land Before Time movies, so dinosaurs are three horns, long necks, spike tails and sharp teeth; which worked for him as we read Dinosaur Roar together.

Bright colours, recognisable dinosaurs and simple to remember rhymes make this a fun read and some beautiful bonding time with your toddler through to early schooler.

We then discovered, with great delight, the pull-out poster in the back of the book that will be going up on the bedroom wall.

Ten Terrible Dinosaurs is set in the world of Dinosaur Roar and brings together full colour illustrations with simple rhymes and a melodic rhythm.

The thing I love about this sort of book is I can have my pre-schooler practice their counting without really registering that they’re practising their counting. He was more than happy to count the dinosaurs on every page, without getting sick of it and giving up.

The antics of the dinosaurs were fun and there was great enjoyment in trying to pick which was the dinosaur disappearing before we turned the page.

Overall these are two classically involving picture books that are sure to delight. I look forward to reading them with the toddler over the weekend, he was napping when we read earlier.

Thanks to Pan MacMillan 20 of our Beauty and Lace club members will be reading and reviewing both Dinosaur Roar and Ten Terrible Dinosaurs with their little people so please be aware the comments below may be written by little people.

We found the exciting, bright and very engaging.
    Lots of fun to read.

Thank you beauty and lace and pan Macmillan Australia for the wonderful Dinosaur books by Paul Stickland and Henrietta Stickland.

  2. My two littliest kiddos (aged 7 & 3) loved these books. We are repeatedly reading them! 🙂 Awesome illustrations! Definitely a must have on the family bookshelf.

  3. Beautifully illustrated and well delivered children’s stories. Filled to the brim with lush vibrant colours and short bursts of story on each page . Perfect for young children up to ages 5-6 .
Enough story to keep the children intrigued and even being able to read it more then once .
Very impressed with the delivery and the well illustrated stories, would recommend the artist and story teller .
Perfect for the young at heart and before bed time .

  4. My daughter absolutely loves these books. The illustrations are fantastic and she loves the bright colours. We only received these books a week ago and so far every night we have read one of them.

My daughter is only one and a half and loves the rhyming of the books and enjoys counting the dinosaurs in ‘Ten Terrible Dinosaurs’.

These books are a great easy read with fantastic illustrations. I would say they are more suited for older readers such as maybe 3 and upwards however my daughter still does enjoy me reading them to her. I just worry with younger children that the books would get destroyed easily as we have already had two pages ripped accidentally from and excited one year old reader!

Thank you Beauty and Lace and pan Macmillan Australia for these fantastic Dinosaur books by Paul Stickland and Henrietta Stickland.

  5. We received these books recently and my sons loves them. You can’t really go wrong with Dinosaur themed books and these were a hit both with my 5 year old and 2 year old boys. The illustrations are beautifully done. My son who just started kindy and is learning to read is following the words with his finger as I read to him. Even my 2 year who is just learning how to count, loves Ten Terrible Dinosaurs as he listens to the numbers being read out. It’s a great set of books.

  6. Thank you so much for the opportunity to review Dinosaur Roar and Ten Terrible Dinosaurs.
My four year old and I both absolutely love them.
The illustrations are fantastic and eye catching, the words themselves were catchy and lots of fun to read.
We have read them so many times in the week we have had them and won’t be stopping any time soon.
    Thank you again.

  7. These books have bright and colorful beautiful and fun illustrations! Dinosaur Roar was the favorite for my 6 years old. The Ten terrible dinosaurs may be better for a younger audience who will enjoy counting down.
Overall I would definitely recommend both these books to read to young children.

Thank you Beauty and Lace and Pan Macmillan Australia for these beautiful Dinosaur books.

  8. Can I just say how awesome these books are! My 5 year old dinosaur crazy boy loved reading both the books, even took one of the book for school sharing.
He just started school and got a great interest in reading books now by himself and these books are a great start for those who has just started reading and recognizing words.
He can read these books by himself.

Both the books have a sense of humor, great pictures and something to learn for the little ones. Overall they are a great read and can’t thank you guys enough for sending this books over.
